Combating SRS and FWM in an Optical Fiber through Unequal Spacing and Dispersion

چکیده
In DWDM system, the major non-linearities such as SRS and FWM occurs simultaneously in Long-Haul Communication. As the optical signal propagate through the fiber undergoes power fluctuations and crosstalk between the channels in DWDM system. Due to this major problem, the performance of DWDM system get degrades. In this paper, the effect of SRS and FWM affecting the original Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) signal power simultaneously is studied and its effect on unequal channel spacing and dispersion is analyzed in fiber optic link. The unequal channel spacing and dispersion are common methods to mitigate the effect of both SRS and FWM in the transmission fiber of DWDM system. This paper also dealt how the combined effect of SRS and FWM makes the signal strength weaken in Long-Haul Communication. The Power Tilt value is compared with unequal channel spacing and unequal channel with dispersion co-efficient. Keywords— DWDM, SRS, FWM, Power Tilt, Unequal channel spacing, Equal channel spacing, Dispersion.

The performance of an optical wavelength division multiplexed communication system is analyzed taking the four wave mixing (FWM) effect into account. Crosstalk due to four-wave mixing (FWM) is the dominant nonlinear effect in long-haul multi-channel optical communication systems which can severely limit system performance. In this paper, we have simulated the effect of chromatic dispersion on FWM using equal and unequal channel spacing in terms input/output spectrum, eye diagram and bit error rate. Results show that the effect of FWM reduces...

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

Four Wave Mixing (FWM) is the parameter which restricts the transmission distance and bandwidth of optical communication systems. There are various factors which influence FWM, such as channel input power, spacing between channels, dispersion of fiber, operating wavelength and refractive index etc. The nonlinear effects tend to manifest themselves when optical power is very high and become impo...

The nonlinear effect degrades the system performance. Because nonlinear effects tend to manifest themselves when optical power is very high, they become important in WDM. Four-wave mixing (FWM) is one of the dominating degradation effects in wavelength divisionmultiplexing (WDM) systems with dense channel spacing and low chromatic dispersion on the fiber. Four wave mixing (FWM) is a parametric ...
